A change to a CRM map or scheduling rule can break a stable process if the team cannot identify the previous version or affected records. Version the approved configuration, define a rollback trigger and preserve the old handoff until the replacement passes the intended tests.
What the handoff should contain
Record previous mapping, proposed changes, approver, test cases, activation time and inquiries created during the changed period.
Suggested wording to approve
Example wording: “While the connection change is reviewed, the team will use the approved fallback or previous workflow rather than promising an unverified external action.”
Test the difficult case
Introduce a controlled test error, restore the previous mapping and verify a fresh fictional inquiry reaches the expected record with correct ownership. Do not delete genuine inquiries to make a failed release appear clean or apply broad changes to unrelated CRM data during rollback.
Worked example
Fictional example: A new mapping places the property reference in a field hidden from agents. Restore the approved mapping and verify a new fictional inquiry reaches the correct visible field. Separately identify records created during the faulty version; rolling back configuration does not automatically repair the business records already affected by the change.
