Listing status changes without stale showing promises

A property may move from active to another status while callers continue asking to view it from an older advertisement or saved link.

01

The decision to make first

A property may move from active to another status while callers continue asking to view it from an older advertisement or saved link. Use the team-approved current status and define what request path remains appropriate for each status instead of assuming all visible listings are showable.

02

What the handoff should contain

Keep listing identifier, status, effective update, responsible agent and the allowed next action for a caller asking about that property.

03

Suggested wording to approve

Example wording: “I can tell you the status in the team’s approved information and pass a question to the listing agent. A showing still requires confirmation.”

04

Test the difficult case

Test an active listing that changes status during the pilot and a caller using an advertisement published before the change. Do not promise access or availability simply because the property page is still online or a calendar appears to contain an open time.

05

Worked example

Fictional example: A property moves out of the active-showing workflow shortly after a prospect saves its page. The prospect calls with the old link. The assistant should state the approved current status and offer the appropriate agent-review route, not treat the still-accessible page or an open calendar slot as proof that a showing can be confirmed.

06

Review it in operation

Review inquiries that reached the wrong showing workflow and correct the status-to-action rule rather than deleting useful historical context.
