The decision to make first
Two listings can share a street name or building number, and an assistant may attach a showing request to the wrong property. Confirm a stable property identifier using the approved address components before providing listing-specific information or routing the inquiry.
What the handoff should contain
Capture street, unit where applicable, town, listing reference if supplied and the detail used to distinguish similar properties.
Suggested wording to approve
Example wording: “I want to make sure we are discussing the right listing. Could you confirm the town and unit or the listing reference shown on the page?”
Test the difficult case
Test two homes on similarly named streets and two units in one building, including a caller who corrects the unit after the first answer. Do not use the first search result or the closest spelling as a confirmed property match when more than one plausible listing exists.
Worked example
Fictional example: Two approved listings have similar street names in different towns. A caller supplies only the street and number. The assistant should ask for the missing town before giving price or showing information. If the caller later corrects a unit, the final summary must use the corrected property rather than preserving the first tentative match.
Review it in operation
Review misrouted property inquiries and strengthen the identifying question without requiring callers to know internal listing-system terminology.
